Install Drivers

  • Download the following zip file and unzip it to a folder on the computer where the updates will be performed:

  • Plug the USB audio device into a USB port of a Windows 7 computer. Windows will attempt to load drivers for the device and may give you an error stating that the device will not function properly.
  • Open the Device Manager and look under the USB controllers group to find a device labeled "USB Composite Device". Verify you have the correct device by right clicking on the device name and select Properties. Click the Details tab and select the Property for Hardware Ids - the vendor ID (VID) for all eMDee USB products will be 1A11 as shown in the image below:

  • Click "Browse my computer for driver software".
  • Click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer".
  • Click the Have Disk... button.
  • Browse to the following location of the downloaded zip file: {zip file}/Driver/eMDeeUac2.inf and click Open.
  • Click OK and then select the driver for "eMDee Composite USB-Device" and click Next.
  • You may get a security warning about the driver being unsigned. Click "Install this driver software anyway".
  • You should now see the drivers in the Device Manager similar to the following:

Upgrade Firmware

  • Launch the following executable file from the downloaded zip file: {zip file}/Firmware/UacbWin.exe.
  • Select File/Update Firmware from that application's menu.
  • Browse to the following file from the downloaded zip file: {zip file}/Firmware/eMDee000x_v2.hex.
  • Select the file from above and click Open. DO NOT UNPLUG OR RESET THE USB DEVICE UNTIL THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE APPEARS:

  • Click OK and replug/reset the USB device by unplugging and plugging the USB cable or by pressing the reset button for 3 seconds.
  • At this point, the firmware has been updated but you will need to re-install the drivers again since the new firmware appears as a slightly different device. Repeat the "Install Drivers" section above to re-install the drivers.
  • After re-installing the drivers, you should have a working audio device and USB device. Your Device Manager should look similar to the following:
