Setting up Student Station Radio Comms
PD&TP Panel Settings
- Turn the PD&TP power switch ON
- Use the row of thumbwheel switches that corresponds to the station number of the student station. Set the thumbwheels under Direct Access A to 03.
- Set the thumbwheels under Direct Access B to 11
- Set the thumbwheels under Direct Access C to 27.
- Flip the switches up for both mission intercom 1 and 2
- The two mission intercom and the three direct access indicators to the right of the thumbwheels should be illuminated.
BDP Panel Settings
- Set the Function Select thumbwheel under HF USB/AME to 1 and set the switch to ACTVT. The indicator in row 1 should illuminate.
- Set the Function Select thumbwheel under UHF to 2 and set the switch to ACTVT. The indicator in row 2 should illuminate.
- Set the Function Select thumbwheel under VHF to 3 and set the switch to ACTVT. The indicator in row 3 should illuminate.
ARC-210 Settings
- Rotate the switch on the left to TR+G and wait for the self-test to finish.
- Rotate the switch on the right to MAN.
MAP Settings
- "Pull" the C volume knob out by clicking the middle of the knob (the green indicator on the knob will illuminate).
- The XMT and CLR indicators should be illuminated for Direct Access C.
- Press the PTT switch - the ACT indicator should illuminate.
- At this point the voice from the headset microphone should be broadcasting over the network - all radios at other stations that are similarly configured will be able to receive.
